21 Days of Prayer

Twenty-One Days to Pray, Connect, and Serve Each Other and Jesus

Islands Christian Church is a place where people can connect to Jesus and each other. In these weeks approaching Easter, we want to collectively join in prayer and explore what it looks like to pray for, connect with, and serve one another. Often, when we see others in need, we jump into action first and then pray as an afterthought. As we seek to shift the focus to prayer first during these twenty-one days, we’ll see our faith grow and see God move in ways we couldn’t imagine.

  • Prayer is communication with God. We do this by praising Him, confessing our sin before Him, thanking Him and asking Him for our needs and desires.

Prayer is communion with our Creator. When we pray, we engage in loving fellowship with the Maker of heaven and earth. He has graciously invited us into a close covenant relationship with Him through the person and work of Christ.

Prayer is central to the Christian life. Christians are commanded to pray “continually” (1 Thess 5:17) as we seek God and grow in intimacy with Him.

  • You don’t have to be Bible scholar or church leader to pray. You don’t have to have your life together or even have made one good choice that day, prayer is a privilege open to all of us. God wants a relationship with us and he wants to communicate with us through prayer. Praying is simply a conversation between us and Jesus. We have provided this prayer guide to help us focus on praying for others, but God also wants to hear what’s on your heart. You can talk to Him like a friend and He will hear your prayers!

1 John 5:14 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.

  • At the heart of the Christian life is community. We live out our faith in connection to other people. It’s how we know our faith is real. We practice the love, humility, and sacrifice of Christ in our relationships with others. However, not only do we grow as a Christian when we’re connecting to others, God’s purposes are accomplished. He has always planned to make us, as a community of people, his home.

    1 Peter 2:5

You also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
