Life Together
"Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God's people and also members of his household." — Ephesians 2:19
Many of us naturally think of church as a place we go. We gather for worship, hear a message, spend time with friends, and then head back into our week. While those rhythms matter, Scripture invites us to see the church as something much deeper.
In Ephesians 2, Paul reminds believers that before Christ we were separated from God—without hope and without a place among His people. But through the blood of Jesus, we have been brought near. We are no longer outsiders. We have become citizens of God's kingdom, members of His family, and part of something He is building together.
That last image is especially powerful. Paul says we are "being built together" into a dwelling place for God. The church isn't simply a collection of individuals who happen to believe the same things. It's a community where God chooses to make His presence known. Each believer is like a stone that finds its purpose only when joined with the others and built on Christ, the cornerstone.
Real community isn't always easy. Relationships require patience, forgiveness, humility, and commitment. It's often simpler to keep our distance or treat church as something we consume rather than somewhere we belong. Yet those difficult, ordinary moments of loving one another are often the very places where God shapes us to become more like Christ.
Jesus didn't give His life merely to save individuals. He gave His life to create a people. As we worship together, serve together, pray together, and carry one another through life's joys and burdens, we experience the beauty of the family God has created.

Prayer
Father, thank You for bringing me near through Jesus and making me part of Your family. Help me to value the church the way You do.
Show me how to love, serve, encourage, and invest in the people You've placed around me. Build us together into a community where Your presence is clearly seen. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Living It Out
This week, consider one way you can move from simply attending church to participating in the life of the church. Maybe it's joining a group, inviting someone to lunch, serving alongside others, or reaching out to encourage someone you haven't seen in a while. Small steps toward biblical community often become the places where God does some of His deepest work.
